-SERIES E

Series E Electrochemical Cell

Ventacon’s Series E Electrochemical Cells consist of a specially selected borosilicate glass body carrying a platinum ring secondary electrode and a capillary connected side pocket for a standard electrode. The working electrode consists of a high purity pellet held in a fluorocarbon sleeve and electrically connected to a rod passing down its axis. The whole cell is firmly mounted in a metal cradle that fits into the 3² x 2² Raman sample slideways.

Note : Nicolet Instrument users must purchase the appropriate adaptor or order a mount suitable for their instruments, Bruker Instruments do not require an adaptor but a special fitting is needed.

In operation, the cell is filled with electrolyte and connected by cables passing through the access holes in the sample compartment, to a standard electrochemical potentiostatic control unit†. The working electrode can be moved towards the front optically flat window or back close to the secondary electrode.

† In Nicolet Instruments a specially designed light trap MUST be purchased and fitted.

All Ventacon cells operate within the sample chamber with the lid closed. All leads pass through the light trap of the Spectrometer (or in the case of the Bruker instruments through the sample chamber wall).
