Some samples are so sensitive to heating that sample rotation is not enough. Models SR5 & SR6 rotators provide vertical movement as well as rotation.

  • Model SR-5 suitable for use with Nicolet spectrometers
  • Model SR-6 suitable for use with Perkin Elmer instruments.

These rotators are designed to examine samples in shortened NMR tubes. The tubes are held from above and rotated by a motor gearbox system. The entire sample and motor are mounted on a stage which is translated vertically by a second motor gearbox and a lever system. The speed of rotation and the periodicity of the vertical movement are controlled electrically by the Ventacon Series D Power Supply.

The Ventacon D Series power supplies power to the rotators. The Universal Power Supply will, of course, support all sample rotators. For customers who do not require the temperature control functions provided by the Universal supply, Ventacon offers a simplified version, the D-3 [See separate specification sheet]. Use of the D Series is an ideal solution and is appropriate to the Perkin Elmer and Bruker Spectrometers and the Nicolet instruments. Both the D Series power supplies enable you to adjust both the speed of vertical translation and the rotation independently.

There has been some discussion in the literature about the desirability or otherwise of rotating samples in F-T instruments. If rotated SLOWLY there is no problem. The subject is covered in detail in A.De Paepe Internet J. Vib Spect.,[www.ijvs.com] 2, 3 (1998).
